Calibration 24 [Video]

[Garrus enters his apartment, inspecting the thin layer of dust on his stuff. He gets out a cloth and begins to clean up, starting with his new model of the Normandy. After noticing the device is on, he picks it up and talks into it as he dusts.]

If anybody is wondering where I've been for the past week, well, I went home. Somehow.

It was nice to see Shepard and the others again, even for a little while.

[He pauses and gets a hard look in his eyes.]

Some of the things that happened back there... [Sigh

And he tries to go back to dusting, as if to push whatever happened out of his head. Turns off the device while he's at it.]

[Eagle was about to welcome him back until the sigh and the dark statement hinted that the visit had been a difficult one. ]

Was everything alright back home?

...Mostly. Seeing everyone again was nice, even Grunt, that's for sure. However, we also got a few harsh reminders.

Do you want to talk about it? We could meet for tea…
[Wait, could his unique chemistry handle tea? ]
… or whatever it is you like to drink.

Sure, we can meet for a drink. I'd probably have to provide my own, though.

I was wondering if that wouldn’t be the case. There is a nice little outdoor Café near the square, you might be able to get away with slipping something in there as long as we sit outside. Would that be alright with you?

Sounds good. I'll see you there.

[Then Eagle will have found a nice quiet table at that Café and ordered the tea he was talking about while he waits for Garrus to arrive. ]

[Garrus arrives soon after and sits down with Eagle, pulling a flask out of a hidden compartment in his armor and taking a sip from it.]

This is nice.

Yes, it is. A perfect place for a conversation, don’t you think?

[A sip of tea later. Eh, it could use a little sugar… ]

Definately.

[He sips from is flask.]

So, what did you want to talk about?

[Because Garrus had made it sound like something big had happened. ]

I just wanted to hear all about your visit home and of course welcome you back properly. You were missed while you were gone.

Well, like I said, it was nice to see Shepard again. [He'll spare Eagle the details of what transpired. They were sexy in nature.]

But, a couple of... other things happened. One made me want to break a Cerberus employee's legs. I didn't witness the other personally, but from what Shepard told me, she's in some hot water.

Its probably better that you didn’t break some one’s leg. What did he do to irritate you so badly?
I hope the trouble your friend is in isn’t too bad.

Well, we were called in to investigate a Cerberus facility where they were experimenting with a virtual intelligece to control geth. It turned out that the head researcher used his own brother to work it. The poor man was being tortured.

[Oh horrible! Eagle‘s face pretty well reflects that feeling as he listens to Garrus speak. ]

Were you able to save that man?

Yeah, we saved him. Shepard made sure he was sent someplace where they'll take care of him.

[He takes a long gulp of his drink.]

As for the other incident, Shepard went in alone, as a favor to Admiral Hackett, but she told us the whole story. She had a run in with Indoctrinated scientists who were going to bring the Reapers to our galaxy, and was forced to kill a colony of batarians in order to stop them.

[there is a moment of silence while this information settles in. ]

I see what you meant about harsh reminders… Those sound like very difficult situations.

[Support! You have it. ]

Are you going to be alright?

I shudder to think that things are only going to get worse from here before they get better.

[He takes another sip from the flask.]

Yeah, I'll be fine.

I’m sorry. If there was something I could do…

[But, at the moment he couldn’t think of anything other than being there to talk to, if needed. ]

That's nice of you to offer.

Still, with Shepard leading us, I know we'll beat them.

I know you are very dedicated so I am sure you will be able to do just that.

[It's the guy that was surprised at half-the things on his Naughty List from that one curse. Might as well try to start a conversation.]

Would that be for a few days or a month?

Probably... [Recounts in his head] About two weeks.

You make it sound like you were at the precipice for the end of the world.

Shepard almost was. I wasn't there, but she told me about it.

Welcome back, I suppose. Everything alright?

Oh, yeah, it's all fine. I'm just pissed at certain people, and certain people are going to be pissed at Shepard.

Why's that?

It's a long story. Two long stories actually.

Regarding the former, Cerberus just gave us all a big reminder that they're still sleezey bastards, save the employees serving the Normandy. One of their scientists used his autistic brother as the core of a VI so they could control geth test subjects. The man looked like he had been tortured and is probably going to be traumatized for the rest of his life.

As for the latter, I wasn't there but Shepard told us the whole story. Shepard was forced to kill a colony of batarians to stop the Reapers from using a Mass Relay to travel to our galaxy in two days. Needless to say, the batarians aren't going to be happy with her.

Sounds like you and Shepard have been busy.

You don't know the half of it, Cameron.

I don't think I could even try to imagine.

Well, you got to say this about Shepard: working with her certainly isn't boring.

That, I believe.

Just seeing her again was like a breath of fresh air.

I'm sorry you ended up back here, again.

I went two years without her once, I can last however long this City wants me without her.
